Our Corporate Officers

Tom Vann has served as President of First South Bank since 1979 and is responsible for managing the bank’s assets and overseeing its day-to-day operations.  Vann joined the Bank in 1972, after graduating from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science.  He has earned such honors as the Jaycee Distinguished Service Award, State FBLA Business Person of the Year Award, and FBLA District I Award.  Mr. Vann has been active in the community, serving as Member, Director, and Chairman of numerous civic organizations and his church.

Paul Jaber

Paul Jaber, has over 22 years of banking experience, specializing in mortgage lending. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration and Management. He has also graduated from the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is active in the community, serving as a board member of the NC Housing Finance Agency, Fannie Mae Partnership, and the Nash Community College Foundation, as the Treasurer for the Boys and Girls Club of Nash and Edgecombe Counties, and also formerly as president of Mortgage Bankers Association of the Carolinas.  

William L. Wall

Bill Wall joined the Bank in 1993.  He has over 23 years of banking experience and holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Barton College (formerly Atlantic Christian College). Mr. Wall was recently presented the 2001 Community Service Award by Washington/Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce for his community and civic involvement in several local organizations.  The Community Service Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Chamber. 

 

Mary R. Boyd

Mary Boyd joined First South Bank in 1983.  She was born in Japan, and has lived in Washington since 1977.  Ms. Boyd is a graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting.  She is responsible for selling and servicing mortgage loans and for managing the Bank’s servicing functions, including taxes and insurance.  Ms. Boyd is an active member of First Christian Church.  

Sherry L. Correll

Sherry Correll, a native of Rocky Mount, NC, joined the Bank in 1985 as a Research Analyst. She was named Vice President in 1988, Senior Vice President in 1999 and Executive Vice President in 2002. Mrs. Correll is responsible for managing Bank Operations, Deposit Operations, Training and Regulatory Compliance as it relates to deposit operations. She is responsible for providing retail support to the Bank’s branch system. Mrs. Correll serves on the Board of Directors of The Beaufort County Partnership for Children. She is also an active member of the First United Methodist Church.  

Kristie W. Hawkins

Kristie Hawkins, a native of Washington, NC, joined the Bank in 1982.  She is responsible for financial and regulatory reporting, financial analysis, cash management and forecasting reports.  Ms. Hawkins also oversees First South Bank’s accounting department.

 

 

 

 

Jack Ashley joined First South Bank in 1997, and has over 27 years of banking experience.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from North Carolina State University.  He has also received special training at the National Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma and the Advanced Management School of Banking at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He and has held executive positions in numerous civic and community organizations, including Cape Fear Council/Boy Scouts, Lumberton Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Robeson County, among many others.
