Washington/Beaufort County Chamber Annual Banquet

January 2014

A fun event in which the Beaufort County Chamber Members come together to celebrate accomplishments of the previous year, plan for the upcoming year, and recognize individuals and businesses in the community.

Relay for Life

May 2014

Relay for Life is an event near and dear to the hearts of the First South family. The main event is held at Washington High School in May and is focused on raising money and awareness about Cancer. First South holds mini fundraising events, internally and communitywide, from January to May, in support of Relay for Life. Look for some of those events to be listed here soon!

Summer Festival

June 2014

The highlight of the summer, attracting over 30,000 attendees each year, the Summer Festival is held on the Washington Waterfront and put on by the Chamber in conjunction with local business and individual sponsors each year. Don’t miss this one!

Sand in the Streets

August 2014

The Pride of Kinston, a community organization dedicated to the revitalization and development of downtown Kinston, puts this summer concert series on each year. Stay tuned for more information this summer!

Business Expo

October 2014

The Business Expo, an event held as a joint partnership between the Chamber and Beaufort County Community College, allows local businesses to present their products and services. Free seminars are available throughout the day as well. This event is free to the public.

Trivia Bee

October 2014

Event is held in support of the Chamber’s Education Committee with proceeds benefiting Beaufort County Schools.

Ag Expo

November 2014

This event is a joint venture between Beaufort County Schools and Farm Bureau/Beaufort County to promote Agricultural Careers in the 21st Century.

Pamlico/Tar River Foundation Oyster Roast

November 2014

The Pamlico/Tar River Foundation (PTRF) is a local non-profit organization dedicated to keeping our rivers and ecosystems clean. Hosted ‘under the stars’ on the Washington Waterfront, this is one of their biggest fundraising events of the year.

Salvation Army Bell Ringing at Wal-Mart

December 2014

Each year the Salvation Army collects thousands of dollars in their ‘red kettles’ to help those in need. Our First South family is proud to do its part in keeping this tradition alive and helping families in need in Beaufort County.

Christmas Movie Night

December 2014

Christmas Movie Night is a fun-packed night for both children and adults! Children have the opportunity to watch a popular Christmas movie among plenty of happy elf chaperones, while parents shop at the Holiday Bazaar or browse the array of Christmas trees and holiday objects on display. This event is organized by Hotline, a non-profit organization that provides information and referrals, crisis intervention, temporary shelter, and advocacy and prevention education service. Admission is a new, unwrapped toy.

Pamlico Tar River Oyster Roast

Sponsored by First South Bank, the 28th Annual Oyster Roast was a sold-out event, held November 16, 2020. Guests enjoyed steamed oysters served under the stars, beer from Duck-Rabbit Brewery (and other), chili and a silent auction to raise money for http://www.ptrf.org/oysterroast.php.

Washington Christmas Parade

Employees at First South’s operations center, corporate and 4 branches worked diligently to get our float together for the Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 7. It was held downtown at 10:00 am. Thanks to those of you that came out to enjoy the parade and support the local businesses!

Alms House

Join our Branch Manager for Hope Mills, Tonia Britt, as she spends each Tuesday from 12-1:30 pm donating her time to serve food to the less fortunate. If you are interested in joining her or learning more about this giving opportunity, please inquire at our Hope Mills Branch.
