Protecting yourself against fraud is extremely important in today's digital world. Not only can it result in identity theft,  it can also create a major headache as you sort it out.  One way we put you first is by offering customers multiple layers of protection!
  
Fraud Detection Alerts
This is our internal alert system that monitors your debit card activity for potential fraud.

In the event we detect what we believe to be fraudulent activity with your debit card, you will receive an automatic email notification from First South, you have the option to reply fraud or no fraud. One minute after you receive the email you will receive a text alert from 32874, between the hours of 7am and 9pm EST. You have the option to reply fraud or no fraud.

If we do not receive a response from you, five minutes after the text alert is sent, you will receive automatic phone calls to confirm or deny the potential fraud.

smsGuardian™ Text Alerts is our solution to helping you prevent fraud on your debit card by receiving text message alerts, on your mobile phone, in regards to suspicious transactions.

EMV Chip Cards

EMV chip technology is becoming the global standard for credit card and debit card payments. Named after its original developers (Europay, MasterCard® and Visa®), this technology features cards with embedded microprocessor chips that store and protect cardholder data

First South Bank debit cards are now EMV Chip cards.  This adds another layer of security and fraud protection when used at a terminal with a chip card reader.

To make purchases, you “dip” your card into a slot and briefly hold it there until verified. Your card will also work on old-style payment terminals that don’t use the new technology. The couple of extra seconds it takes to run this transaction is worth the protection it provides you against fraudulent activity.
