Q: How can I save time when banking?

  • Arm yourself with our First South Bank VISA CheckCard. It gives you cash access at ATM machines (with no fees at any First South Bank ATM). You can use it 24 hours a day to get cash fast, make deposits, and transfer money at ATM machines. Plus, because it is a VISA CheckCard, you can use it to make purchases at merchants worldwide that accept VISA® and the money comes right out of your checking account.
  • Sign up for Online Banking and Bill Payment. This is a free service with any personal checking account. You are able to check balances, transfer funds, and make payments any time of the day.

Q: As a person age 50 or more, am I entitled to any benefits?

A. Designed just for our special customers age 50 or better, Senior Free Checking pays competitive interest and has no minimum balance or monthly service fee. You also get your checks for free.


Q: Which accounts include unlimited check writing?

A: All of our personal accounts include unlimited check writing.


Q: Do you have a basic checking account?

A: Basic Free Checking is a great option if you are looking for a traditional checking account. There are no minimum balance requirements and no monthly service fees. You can also have unlimited teller visits.

Q: Do you have any accounts that include Online Banking and Bill Payment?
A: All of our personal checking accounts include free Online Banking with Bill Payment. Click here to sign up.

Q: Do any of your accounts include a CheckCard?
A: Yes, all of our personal checking accounts include a free no fee VISA CheckCard (subject to credit approval).

Q: Do any of your accounts that do not require a minimum balance?
A: Yes. We have three different accounts that do not require a minimum balance: Basic Free Checking, Basic II Checking, and Free Senior Checking.

Q: How do I deposit money into my personal checking account?
A: You can deposit money at any First South Bank location, at many First South Bank ATM machines, and by using direct deposit, a convenient service that automatically deposits your money directly into your account.

Q: How can I set up direct deposit?
A: To find out if direct deposit service is available through your employer, contact your payroll or personnel department. If your employer offers this service, give your employer:

  • A voided check (not a deposit slip) from your First South Bank account.
  • This First South Bank routing number 253171621

For Social Security/Supplemental Security or other federal government income, call the Social Security Administration toll free at 1-800-772-1213 or visit one of our First South Bank offices and we can automatically set that up for you.


Q: What is the difference between my current and available balance?
A: Your current balance is the balance reflecting the transactions that have posted as of the previous business day. Available balance is the current balance plus or minus any on-line credits and debits that will post to your account tonight (things such as ATM deposits, Online Banking transfers, ATM withdrawals, or the use of your VISA® CheckCard for purchases).

A: Your routing and transit numbers are the first 10 digits at the bottom of your checks. First South Bank’s routing and transit numbers is: 253171621


Q: How can I reorder checks?
A: There are two different ways that you can reorder checks. You may visit the Deluxe Check Page at the First South Bank website, or you may visit any branch and request a re-order of your current checks.

Q: What is the cost of my checks?
The cost of checks varies depending on the style of checks that you order and the fee schedule associated with your checking account. In order to review some of these options, you can speak with a Retail Service Associate by calling us at 1-800-946-4178.

Q: How do I report a lost or stolen credit card?
A: It is best to report lost or stolen credit cards as quickly as possible to limit unauthorized use. You can call our 24-hour AccessLine at 1-888-317-0097.

Q: How can I change the name on my accounts?
A: You can either talk to a Retail Service Associate at your local branch, or you can request the change by sending us an email at [email protected]. If it is a legal name change, due to a marriage or other event, we will need documented proof of your new name.

You may request the change by speaking with a Retail Service Associate at your local branch, or by sending us an email at [email protected].
